LAYOUT#1 is two plain columns, the safe grid many designers fall back on, and it gets a red cross. LAYOUT#2 gets the tick, but it's just a bold V and a wavy line. You can't see what rule makes it better.
'Advanced' speaks to designers who think they're past the basics, and 'Need To See' suggests they're missing something important.

When you teach a principle that separates ordinary work from good work, show both side by side as simple drawings with a cross and a tick. Make the good one intriguing enough that the rule behind it isn't obvious.
Show wrong and right, but hide the rule between them.
